Just bought 20kg of rock for my tank because im planning to convert to a tanganyika setup but im not sure what to do now would you guys rather have a community or a tanganyika setup i know its based on personal taste but just need some reviews on the matter

Thanks

Yeah what is it?

I've heard it alot of times on this forum.

depends on tank size ? if its 50gal+ then i would go african all the way

yep cichlids all the way much more interesting than general comminuty tank imo

Local water stats?

Also depends on what community fish you plan on getting, if its the 'usual' then I'd be inclined to go tang, but you could have an oddball community.

Thanks guys thats give me the heads up im gonna go for the tangs ive tested the water with the rocks in its at ph7.0 / 7.5 so ill just buy some shells tomorrow to up the ph a little 8.0 gonna start of with 1 Neolamprologus leleupi and 2 others not sure what yet then gonna stock slowly

i dont know how yo can do a tang set-up in a 60 litre tank truck unless its shell dwellers

Tanganyikan Cichlids are African Cichlids from lake Tanganyika.

I have a Tanganyikan set up in a Juwel 125 which holds approx 120 litres with hollow rocks.

In it I have Tanganyika cichlids- 2 Julidochromis marlieri, 3 Neolamprologus leleupi, 1 Neolamprologus pulcher, 1 Neolamprologus Caudopunctatus, 1 Neolamprologus tretocephalus, 1 Neolamp Sexfasciatus Tanz Gold, 1 Spathodus (Clown Faced) Goby. and a Plec-1 Red Violet Cochliodon(L137)

Of all the set ups I have now and in the past this one is my favorite :good:

Your tank is a bit too small but you could have a few.......better to get a bigger tank really.

Lake Tanganyika is one of the deepest lakes and is therefore very stable both in water PH/hardness and temperature. For this reason, Tanganyikan Cichlids are sensitive to both so it is important to either match the new water closely or do smaller and more regular water changes.
