Hey,
I lost one of my lovebirds yesterday in a really horrific accident. I wont go into details as it wasn't very pleasant.. But after losing my little guy i was left with one lovebird
Obviously she couldn't live alone, so i brought her back into the house and put her in with my conure, just to see if they'd get on, and they do! They're both happy of the company i think
Anyway, i've decided, rather than have one tame conure and one untame lovebird i would try to tame the lovebird and see if i can get her handleable
So.. Clipped her wings earlier! Not my favourite thing to do, but the easiest way to tame them. And i spent about an hour getting her to step up. Both lovebirds were always quite steady so she wasn't stressed, she kinda just stared at me But, after an hour of nothing but chirps and head bobbing she stepped up, and then did it again! and now she does it when i ask her!! She's so smart!!! B)
So, we spent most of today practising sitting on fingers and shoulders and she loved it! She chirped at everyone, including the dogs! And is now sat in her cage asleep! Poor thing
Anyway, here's some pics of her when she first tried perching on a finger - How cute is she?!
And one of her investigating my tank..
