Hi, i had a question, can high pH cause tail rot to fish?! I seem to have a pH of 8.3, can that cause tail rot?

Hi and welcome to the forum :)

No, a pH of 8.3 is not going to cause fin and tail rot.

Poor water quality (ammonia, nitrite, nitrate, really low pH) and a dirty tank/ filter will cause fin rot.

Have you got any pictures of the fish?
How long has the tank been set up for?
How long have you had the fish for?
What is the ammonia, nitrite, nitrate?

Absolutely no. There is nothing in pH or hardness that will do that. It's a response to poor water quality, most of the time. It's easy to fight back - do regular water changes, starting as soon as you can.

Ok. Thanks
