This looks like the best sand I've found as far as looks go.. I like it a lot,,, but it says not so great for bottom dwellers, does this mean no Snowflake eel??? I want some great looking sand and this looks like it, but I'm not sure wheter or not to purchase yet or not? Also, I have a 29g, that will be my saltwater is 20lb's enough for the tank?

I am not sure how the sand looks like, but usually fine sand is good for snails, cucumbers etc that clean the sand. Do the say what size grains they are?

not to sure,,,, ive not really found a good website for anything yet...

ive been using marinedepot.com

seems to be ok?

Well its not aragonite, and the grain size is a little big. I dont know much about eels, but I would use caution when choosing this stuff.

im no expert (wait until lynden or andy comes) but im pretty sure 29 gallons is way too small for a snowflake eel.

i believe so too, right now I have a freshwater one in my 29,,, and hes a bout 15" long,,, and he seems to liike it ,, eats a bunch and loves his caves, and when the lights go off, he swims around with a smile on his face... but when I do saltwater,, I think a eel is out of the question for me,,, I plan on having the 29, being my first tank and all just be a nano reef with some clowns etc... and then later on down the road do a 75 or so.. =]

that would be a very smart idea IMO

Btw, what part of illinois are you from? Chicago area?

yea,,, one of the small towns near aurora, if you know where that is,,, naperville area kind of... I found a VERY VERY nice LFS btw, the other day called Reef Plus in aurora,, ,strictly saltwater, very cheap, and the guy is very noligable.. <-- spelled that wrong? but yea... he carries a TON of everything and has a lot of very unique live and fiji rock. :) also very nice,,, one of the guys that just THROWs things in with your order :)

very cool, i was checking out the website,,, havent really looked at pics yet, but thats in dekalb, about 1/2 hour from me... :) ill have to check it out sometime, btw if u havent been to Reef Plus, I recommend.. :) how far is evanston??? have anything you wanna sell?

evanston is just north of the chicago border, near rogers park. 1/2 an hour is nothing when you get more involved in the hobby, you'll find yourself taking around a 2 hour drive just to go to anotehr reefers house just so that you can look at their tank and get one small, tiny free frag....

lol i cant wait until that day,,, hey man btw,,, just wondering i dont know why im just directly asking u,, but i dont know if uve read the 29 GALLON COMING ALONG NICELY thread, that has a lot of replies but the " Tunze Osmolator 3155 " thing he has... what exactly is that? and why does it have like 2 10gallon tnaks its going into, it looks ridiculously expesnive and at the same time I WANT ONE :)

its an auto top of system using an optical sensor primary and a float valve as a back up, as opposed to other ATOs (auto top offs) which use 2 float valves.

More expensive than most ATO's, but very reliable, and i love mine...
