I found another light option for my 55g planted tank. Is it a decent option? I could run 2 lights for low light and 4 for high. This way I could go either way with out having to replace the fixture. I like the fact that it is cheap and has night lighting too.

I know it isn't the best choice... I can't afford the best choice. Keeping in mind that I am working broke and can't afford to pay much or waist my money on something that won't work... should I get this or keep looking?

Looks good to me. You may need to swap the supplied tubes though.

A midday burst would work well i.e. 3 hours 2 tubes, 4h 4t, 3h 2t. I assume you have pressurized CO2 and are well-planted with that much light.

My deepest sympathy for you recent loss too.

Thanks... There have been too many funerals lately. We just had another one yesterday. Our family isn't having much luck right now. We have and continue to lose young and old. I am starting to feel like someone doesn't like us. We have averaged a funeral every 2 weeks, and someone else diagnosed severely ill or not given long to live every week here lately. It is time for something good to happen!

The reason I was thinking only using 2 tubes was the lack of co2. using 2 tubes would put me just under 2wpg. I am planning to start with the nutrifin kits for now. I was just thinking that if I did happen to get the money to get better co2 system I would already have the lighting. I am trying to think ahead. I have waisted too much money already from not thinking ahead on my other tanks.

What tubes would I need to swap to?

Thanks for helping!

Yes, funerals suck...

Running two tubes without CO2 would be ok, but you'd need to plant heavily. I'd probably try running one of each of the tubes - one 12000K and one pink. This way you may actually get good growth as plants like red and blue spectrums.

If you do use the Nutrafins be sure to keep on top of swapping the mixtures to keep good CO2.

Thanks!

I am fairly well planted, but I do intend to get more plants in now that I know kind of what I like. I am planning more val and e tenellus I know. I love those! There are a few others that I want to try once I get the light. I knew better with the light I have now.

I also have to deal with the brown dusty stuff that won't go away too. It is driving me crazy! It just won't stop. It is all over everything and I am having to clean my filter every day. I have to actually remove it and take it apart and clean it so it don't get bogged down and quit running. (I do try to protect the sponges though.) That is too much work. Is there a way to stop that stuff?

Thanks again!
