So, I'm buying another starter (you can't have enough light :p); I'm going for 2 55W T5 lights, which combined with my current lighting should bring me to just over 2 WpG.

What are the advantages and disadvantages of 2 single-tube starters vs 1 double tube starter?

Also, where do you buy from? The costs I'm seeing is around 30/35£ for a twin starter unit; does this sound right?

humm no real advantage except only one switch for both lights, and one may be smeller than two!!

single units cost from £9.99 to £20, depends where and what kind you buy. Arcadia units are £13.99 at petcity!! for all wattages. but the price will vary! not sure on the twin unit cost though. i have three singles for my tank.

Does this place have a website as i can`t find T5 starter units for less that 35 quid

Thanks. As the advantages/disadvantages seem equal (gradual lightup/lightdown intensity vs simplicity); I've decided on going with whatever is cheaper :p

I still haven't found any twin 55w unit for less than 35pounds including shipping though...

Meh, popped down to my LFS today and picked up a starter for £42. I also grabbed two bulbs (£17 each, OUCH!) They are interpet tri-somethings, 55w. This brings me to a grand 2.something WPG :D Finally!

Now I just need to find/make a pair of reflectors for my T5s...
