What is T5 lighting and how does it work?

Its the same as T8, but I think the tubes are smaller in diameter and give out more penetrating power...

Well the simple answer is it relates to the thickness of a flourescent tube - T5 is 5/8th of an inch thick (T8 therefore being 8/8ths, i.e. 1 inch)
