Hi,

I'm running a Juwel Highlite (1 x 9000k daylight, 1 actinic blue) and a dual power compact (Arcadia 1 x 14000k 55w and 1 x actinic blue 55w)

I want to be able to have one complete set of actinics come on before and after the 'main' photo period so I'm planning to get another Juwel actinic blue (lovely hue) and another 14k 55w for the power compacts. I should then be able to switch the juwels on before and after the main 110w of white lighting comes on.

So I will have 90w of actinic blue and 110w of white, does this balance sound good?

Also what would a good photoperiod like this look like? How long should the actinics be on before and after the main period?

Many thanks

Been thinking and reading, I've decided (right or wrong) to go for 2 x 45w 20000k T5 Actinics with 2 x 55w 14000k.

For the photoperiod, I'm going to look at

11:00 - Actinics on
12:30 - Whites on
21:30 - Whites off
23:30 - Actinics off

Any comments?

Sounds like a pretty blue tnak in your near future :)

Hi mate,

Its not too blue is it? I'm sure the corals will be happier with a revised 12hr actinics schedule, if not - oh well I have a spare tube

Prolly not too blue, that's more of an aesthetic thing :). May slow your growthrate down a little (blue tubes put out less PAR than 10k's) but everybody should still do well :)
