Hi, my lfs has had one of these puffers for a while now and now my tanks fully cycled i'm thinking about buying him, there is very little info that i can find about this type of puffer.I need to no is he fresh or brackish?,appx full size, has turgidus the same big personalaty as other puffers and is beak trimming very often.
Thanks for any info u share :D

Ambush predator meaning not very active i guess maybe i will wait until another type of puffer turns up,i got a 40 uk gallon tank with sand substrate rocks bogwood and plants waiting but dont want to make the wrong choice of puffer.
I would like a active puffer/s which requires fresh waterwith little or no teeth trimming..any ideas???????

go small. 8 dwarf puffers or 4 SAP. just make sure you have enough caves and tall plants to go around.

i think most of the other freshwater puffers are either too big or too sedentary for your purposes. the rest are supposedly quite aggressive, so you would probably wind up with a single 6" or two 3" in the tank.

SAP is the #1 fish that needs teeth trimming on a regular basis. My turgidus (see avatar) is a great fish. Not ambush predator, but lurker. Hangs out in his flowerpot cave most of the day. Vicious lil guy though. Wiped out a whole tank if fish overnight. Figured he'd be ok, cause there were fish in the tank he came form...
