Another silly question coming, so hold on tight (lol);

Every time I syphon, I seem to have the same problem. Lots of water comes out, but poopoo, broken off leaves from plants etc, just keep swirling around in the main part of syphon. They cannot go through the sieve/colander that's fitted in the syphon, before the plastic pipe starts. Uh, sorry if I don't make enough sense, as English is not my first language. Is there a difference in the size of syphon? Mine is very big, as when I bought it I thought it will be very handy, as I don't even have to get my hands wet while syphoning. My tank is 55G. Thanks :huh:

Is there a way to take off the sieve bit, I have a gravel vac and it doesn't have that bit on it, I works very well, and only the waste gets sucked up.

smaller syphons would create a bigger current as gravity will still put it as fats, onjly the diameter is smaller so it create a bigger current

you could try that, or try putting the end of the syphone as low a possible compared to the tank, to get the full gravity effect!
