i have 3 synodontis nigrita i believe, i had to put them in a separate 4 foot tank because they were driving my female bn nuts!

question 1)

can i keep a single syno in with?...

6 x corys which are 3 x peppered corys and 3 x bronze cory juvis about 1''.

1 x adult female bn

2 x sub adult clown plecos

2 stray zebra danios

and frank, the amazing 6 1/2'' Raphael ( talking ) catfish

i think my bn will be fine with the lighter ( female? ) syno, she/he seems a bit quieter and less zoomy.lol

question 2)

are synos better in groups or do they do well on there own?

thanks in advance :)

I think its funny how people on here will ignore simple questions like this....
I think you will have problems with your syno. and your raphael depending on the species of syno. you have you didnt state that. Also state how large the cat is. To be honest i believe as long as you have enough hiding spots/terretories in the tank you should be fine with this. Keep a very close eye on it though. Hope this helps some. :good:

thanks for the reply! lol

the Raphael cat is 6 and 1/2 inches without the tail, the syno's are 4.5 inches and nigrita i think ( advertised as anyway )

S. nigriventris is the most common upside-down catfish, they are social fish and best kept in groups. Nearly all the mid-size or larger species are much less tolerant of their own kind, but not usually a problem for other fish. They do like to claim a cave or sheltered spot as their own territory. If there isn't much cover available they're more likely to be restless/stressed and disturb other fish as a result.
