I travel a lot for work and my fiance takes care of the tank, she had to leave for a couple of days and when we both got home I noticed there was no shrimp left in the tank. The fish were overfed before she left and the only one in the tank who didnt come out and eat right away was my syno eupterus, I want to get some more, but not if they are just going to become food. Any thoughts?

Synodontis eupterus will certainly eat small shrimp so I wouldn't waste my money adding more to that tank. If you go on holiday you could add some and the fish can eat them while you're away. But if you want the shrimp then get another tank for them. You could actually set up another tank specifically for the shrimp and use them as live food for the other fish.

If you have to leave the tank unattended for any length of time, you are better off just feeding the fish normally before you go, and not overfeeding them. If there is uneaten food in the tank it will rot and cause an ammonia problem, which could kill the fish or shrimp.
Unlike mammals that use most of the food they eat to stay warm, fish take their body temperature from the surrounding water. This means any food they eat goes straight into growing more muscle and for moving around. This allows fish to go for weeks or even months without feeding.

good to know, probably just throw some in there when I leave for work considering they are 10 cents a piece its not a huge cost.
