They're egg scatterers, grow to 12" or more, and (unusual for a larger species of Synodontis) are social fish, best kept in groups in a LARGE tank. They are spawned commercially using hormone injections, and are often crossed with other species to produce the hybrids that have appeared on the markey in recent years.
If you want to breed Synodontis catfish the petricola or lucipinnis species from Lake Tanganykia are much easier to work with. They grow much smaller than decorus, and there is plenty of breeding info available.
