Went shopping today for some plants and found some nice plants in a tank labled as containing synodontis cat's - didn't buy any of the fish but did buy some of the plants as they looked healthy and had good root systems...

Anyway to cut a long story short, came home tonight after they'd been in the tank for an hour or two and found these critters had joined the tribe...

Can anyone help ID them?

Pic 1: Headshot, pic 2 will be in the next post

pic 2 (they're about an inch long from head to the end of the tail)

Just looking at them and some info on upside down catfish I'm suspecting that's what they are...

Excellent, thanks.

Not bad for free ;) - Luckily my tank is big enough - just - for them.

When people say community fish with no little fish what would be classed as a little fish?

Thanks...

That will be a problem for the danio's and some of the platys...

prett quickly ime, my gf got one @ 1 inch 13 months ago and she rehomed 3 weeks ago, it was approx 7 inch

she never had any problems with it eating smaller fish though, tankmates included cardinal and rummy nose tetra

I'm going to give them a try - the tank has plenty of places to hide and will have more when I get some more plants and rocks etc in it...

I have a 5-6" Syno Eup and it bothers large fish but doesn't even go close to my under 2" kribensis....but you never know and they grow VERY QUICKLY....like quicker than a Oscar... I bought a tiny one about 1 1/2 Inches about 2 months ago it's now a good 4 inches and growing quickly

Think all I can do is keep an eye out and rehome them if they do look like being trouble...

(They already are trouble though - had to rearrange part of the tank decor today and neither would let go of the bogwood when I took it out to reposition it.... had to reposition it without taking it out of the water... daft ideas fish have sometimes)

Oh word of warning do not net a eupterus.... there fins have spines and will catch in the net...happened to me with a Pim Pictus but not a eupterus because I guarentee they would catch....
