I swear, King's fins get way bigger every single week. Way bigger than all of his brothers! His fins are already twice the size of his brothers without having to flare! So I was wondering, do you think some of them just *could* be a DT? I would post pix, but my paren'ts don't come home till 9.

Same here....Hades fins doubled.....But he is still a plakat.....Actually its turning more into a spade tail, not quite there yet....but close....

Maybe Ipos had a VT gene??? or HM :hey:

It's when the bettas tail looks like an actual spade, with a pointed end. (like on playing cards :D )

oh. But, when I say DT, I mean DT, you should see the finage on this guy! I've only have had him for about 2 weeks!

DT means Double Tail. A double tail has 2 distinct lobes, instead of just one. That does not develope later in life...they have it from the get-go.

Example of a DTPK

Huh, I always thought that was a lyretail. I dunnow what it is. I just hope not a VT. There's nothin wrong, cept I just don't want him to carry around huge fins.

I HUGELY doubt these babies carry any sort of VT. Plakats can have long finnage, even though it doesn't even come close to Deltas. If Ipos did carry VT, a huge percentage of the spawn would be VT because it's very dominant... and, if he carried VT strong enough to produce VT babies, basically all of the babies would be long-finned ~ and the ones I had certaintly weren't!

DT = Double Tail, like Mini ;)

I dont even thin Lyretail is considered a tail anymore........They are so rare to find......Ive only seen one in BettaTalk.....but even that didnt show a good pic....

More to the point, if Ipos carried VT he would be VT
They are 100% plakats, I assure you, even if some do have nice full finnage. Plakat is recessive, meaning that for a fish to be plakat, it must carry two copies of the gene.... also meaning that that is the only gene they have to give when they reproduce, so plakat x plakat = plakats.

"Lyretails" are just DTs with very poor caudal spread... VT DTs, essentially. I'm inclined to think that Faith from BettaTalk is the only one who calls them that :p

I've always thought that Lyretail was a tail type of a molly or swordie or one of those livebearer types -_- .

Yeah, I have a lyretail guppy. I didn't even know there could be a betta who had that.

And my Synirr Boy, Irv (means handsome in Celtic  ), has a big, full tail. I like it, it's sooo cute! :p
