I have 1 male and 1 female swordtail they have been in the tank for a couple of months now but havn't bred. the female has been plump a couple of times like she is going to give birth but never any babies

please help

First off, I'd bump the ratio up to 2-3 females per male. With only 1 female, she gets all of the male's constant attention, which can be quite stressful. This can lead to abortion, or deformed fry, and stress isn't good for fish in general. That may be your problem, or it could simply be that all the fry are getting eaten by those two. If you don't have any plants, you could try adding in some thick, floating ones. I've found those to work very well.

Well I have a male and female marigold swordtail in my 10G and it seems like the female has eggs in her so it looks, but they don't seem to be developing. They just seem to set there like they are frozen in time inside of her. I thought maybe she has eggs but they just aren't fertilized by the male yet. Is that possible??

if they're big, the male has definitely transferred sperm. it's probably your temperature or they may be behiond stress. livebearers can hold their babies long enough. a warmer temp can make the babies develop faster
