how do livebreeder mate?+

i now how egg layers do "it" but what happens with livebreeders??

How about posting some pictures of your swordtails? Although if they both have swords then they are definately both males. Some swordtail males only have one thought on their mind and if there aren't any females around, well, you know the old saying - "any port in a storm".

Now if you have the lyretail variety of swordtails it can be a little more difficult to tell the males and females apart but basically males have a gonopodium and females have a triangular shaped anal fin. Check the pinned topic on Livebearers General Breeding at the top of this forum for pictures.

your fish are fighing, 2 males should not be kept together.

if you post in the livebearer section, peps can help you more. But to be honest if this is the same tank, why are you still adding fish to it, when it already has unsutable residents.

I feel like saying, forget lets just let your fish die unhappy deaths.

swords grow to about 4 inch's, the female have a normal anal fin, and the males have a rod like fin, they mate like any other livebearer.

personaly I don't find swords a good fist time fish at all.

please listen, cos I very close to be very rude.

The gonopodium is an elongated thin second anal fin that can but pointed sideways by the male to deliver sperm packets to the female. This only takes a second to happen which is good since female swords spend most of their time trying to get away from the males. One pairing can lead to 4-6 batches of fry since the females store the excess sperm for later use.

always had the 2 swordtails, there not hurting each other.. I have got rid of the sharks and the barbs and the goldies, so please give it a rest I have done as advised... I did advised yesterday...

the 2nd swordtail hasn't got a tail like the first one it half the size and its rounded not as impressive as the 1st...

all the fish have been living HAPPY lives for the last year and a half so if they were gonna start knocking each other off they would have done it by now...

the female swordtail is bigger then the male but it hasn't stopped him giving it a go, its quite funny to watch...

He will probably try to give it a go every five minutes no wait make two or should I say every fifteen seconds for the rest of the time a second female will half the stress she is going to get, but a good start on switching out the other male good luck!

the female is about twice as big as the male is that normal and shes got a really swollon belly but I'm not sure that they look like normally

The females usually get larger than the males. Most likely she is pregnant and the addition of another female or two would make her life a lot easier.
