swollen eyes

this morning i found my yellow lab with swollen eyes. the eyes itself looks ok but around the eye, it is swollen. is there anything i can do or is the only way to the vets. any help would be most appreciated. also, would i need to keep her in her crate or would it be fine letting her be with the other dog???

You could try a diluted salt bath and see if that helps at all. Give it till tomorrow if if no better, definitely go to the vets. Better safe than sorry

If a dogs eyes swell up it could mean a number of things. If it likes to catch bugs like mine does it could have been stung by a bee.. Or have you fed it anything different?? These are just some things to look at. I would wait till tomorrow and its eyes didnt look any better then I sure would take it to the vet.

This remedy ALWAYS works for my animals!
Steep a tea bag - earl grey is best...let it cool til it's just nice an warm and wipe the closed eye gently. He/she probably won't fight you as it's quite soothing for them.

My dog had this about a month ago. He also had a lot of pussy/weepy stuff around the eye. Off to the vet we went and it turned out he had conjunctivitis They gave him a steroid injection (to stop him rubbing his eyes), an antibiotiv shot and eye drops which we had to give to him 3 times a day for 5 days. His eyes were clear after the second day.

It sounds like a bee sting. We had a dog at the shelter that got stung the other day and we gave her benadryl, but I'm not sure how much. Call your vet though and see what you should do.

today my yellow lab's eyes got a lot better and her eyes are fine. all day yesterday i just put a warm towel over her eyes and it seems to work. now my black lab has the same problem, but its just in one eye. on the bottom of his eyes, there seems to be red. any idea what i should do?? i'm going to call the vets today too to make sure. thanks a lot for the inputs.
