Since Saturday one of our clowns has had a swollen belly, I don't think it's dropsy as the scales aren't protruding, it just looks like a prononced oval shape (lighter colour than body colour) on both sides of him/her.
Water tests are all normal, we've only had him/her for a couple of weeks, could it be pregnant/worms/overeating? We did feed frozen bloodworms on Saturday night, could that cause this bloating?! We also did a water change that day.
Apart from this he seems fine, eating, swimming, active, curious as normal!

Any suggestions/ previous experience gratefully received.

Don't you just hate not knowing whats wrong with them, it makes you feel really helpless and I'm never keen on dosing with meds on a guess diagnosis!

I have observed swollen belly underneath on my clowns if they have gorged themselves..... ;)

Any other symptoms? - got any water parameters?

If they all seem fine then maybe watch how much/cut down on feeding :/

Botia's are scaleless fish.

If there are no other symptoms, I'd leave it for a while and see.
