Hello,
I have one african clawed frog and his stomach has swelled up,
He might be in some discomfort i hope not, but he's swimming ok, cept he floats alot which isint good, probably because of his stomach.
His legs aren't swolen just his belly, don't want to loose the little fella.
I found something about red leg, but as his legs are ok, maybe thats not his problem?

Any advice would be appreciated, the pet store hasn't a clue

Thanks later

How much did you feed him? If it's just his stomach area that's bloated, then it's probably a case of overeating. Fast him for a while and see if that reduces the bloating.

ACF's are very sensitive to overfeeding. they will eat untill the food runs out, literally. their liver cant take it and bursts. i have lost 4 in the past due to this (and i was carefull) at first they bloat up like theyve swallowed a marble and then go purple. (at the purple stage you have a big problem - liver failure!!)

starve him for at least 4/5 days and you may be alright.

i've never heard of over eating but it could be an early stage of red leg just watch it and if any symptoms of red leg appear then make sure they aren't in contact with any other frogs

Hi,
I only feed the fish once a day usually, cept on ocasion i treat them
He's stil lbloated, i can see almost through it like a bubble.
But he's getting around ok so far, i'll seperate hi magain for a few days.

Later thanks

Hi sound :)

It's been some time between your first post and your last one, but you say your frog is still bloated. Has he been this way the entire time, or has his stomach gone up and down?

What kind of food are you feeding him?
