I'm a bit worried :S my barb just keeps swimming back and forth constanly he swims into the bubbles and out. There is no obvious signs of anything ...Is he just playing or trying to shake something off?

Probably just playing. What kind of barb is it? Barbs usually like to school together and are happier if there are others with them.

It's a filament barb....i got him by accident about 2mons ago with my algae eaters it got caught in the net with them so he said i could just have him....he has been fine..growing and eating well.....just today he has been doing it

Filament barbs love to school and play with each other. I can't diagnose if there's a disease or not but it could be he's bored and playing with the bubbles and current. A lot of fish do that.

What size tank do you have and is it possible to get more for him to be with?

It's about 55-60 gal tank not sure as it is 4ft but quite deep andi can't really have no more i think i'm at the limit....

In my tank is

2 angels
4 tetras
3 silver sharks
5 clown barbs
1 betta
1 elephant nose
2 algae eaters
1 glass
3 guppies

Yea, you don't have enough room to add more.

How is the elephant nose with the other fish? Do you have any aggro problems?

No, they all live happy together...my enf is cool he is my favorite  very shy until it comes to feeding  but i have had no problems yet .

What shall i do about my barb?

I would keep him. Maybe you can get some playmates for him later on. I don't know how rare filament barbs are where you're from but they aren't very common in a lot of places from what I hear.

Giving him a nice safe home like you're doing isn't all that cruel. :)
