Hi guys thanks for reading my topic. I have a problem that my goldfish seem to get swim bladder disease. Two of my goldfish got it. One had it and then died. And the other just got it recently. Is there anything i can do to prevent this? Why do my goldfish get this disease? Thank You.

There are many reasons fish get swim bladder problems. The simplest is feeding too much gassy food like flake. The most serious is bacterial infections which can stop the air bladder from either filling *sinkers* or emptying *floaters*

I agree with black angel, i would also like to add other external factors like ammnonia problems can also bring about swim bladder damage, and stress in general can bring about desease.
I think the first steps you need to take to find the cause of your fishes ills are;
a. What do you feed them and how much on average?
b. Do you have any recent test results for ammonia, nitrites and nitrates?
c. How do you go about tank maintanence and how often (water changes, cleaning substrate and filter etc) :) ?

Yeah, if we went into it we could be sat here all day about the different causes and the why's and how's. Basically, it comes down to environmental, feeding and disease.

I think it is the food. I feed them as much as they can eat in five minutes, twice a day, and it is flake foods. Thanks guys for everything, you really helped! I know I can rely on you guys again.
