swim bladder disease!

ive been wondering whats wrong with one of my barbs for awhile, and i realized he probably has swim bladder disease, im chalking it up to the problem of either constipation/temperature variation/my water being cloudy.
ive got a new filter, the water has improved, i cleaned the gravel and hes survived for about a week since i noticed this, actually gotten better i think, but still has his topsy turvy bouts. now one o fmy smaller tiger barbs seems to have this problem too.
im afraid that its either bacterial or they both got it from the same conditions.
all the sites ive read say theres no real cure, so im very afraid for my tank!
any possible remedies? and i cant use salt because i have cories.
