Hi,

Between my work area/office and the lounge is a fairly large hole - left when the extension was added on to the house.

The hole measures 111cm wide x 120cm high x 30cm deep. Obviously this is just screaming out to have some kinda tank there, hence this post looking for some advice / guidance.

I was thinking of making the depth 60cm or more by adding a support / shelving system on the other office side as i need shelf space anyway. So this could in theory take a tank 110cm wide x 60ishcm deep x as yet undecided height.

Now my main areas I would like advice on (providing the budget can take it )

could this be done as viewable from both sides with only a 60cm depth. ie putting the live rock in the centre and having open areas around it

would a say 70,80,90cm deep tank be feasible for a sw / reef setup (or another height suggestion allowing for lighting rigs etc)

I appreciate the deeper it gets the issues for corals and lighting get more involved.

Any advice/opinions/suggestion would be great - even those "dont do it - youre insane" ones :hey:

Just like to sound the idea out before delving more into costings etc

many thanks

Mike

Unless there are some serious considerations, it would be nice to use this forum as it was intended....as a forum with good discussion and thought. I think PM'ing should be done personally and unannounced to avoid giving others the impression that there is a private conversation going on or that others are not privy to what's being discussed. Let's avoid the 'PM'd ' post if possible. I understand that sometimes people disable their PM or have to exchange a phone number or address. Let's use discretion. Thanks for everyone's consideration with regards to this. SH

I dont see the problem SH, I have private Info to pass on and wanted Mike to know I had PM'd him

This is standard practise on all the forums I frequent and am unsure of the issue it cause's :good:

Sorry to cause a ruck here :sly:

But the PM was very very useful in putting together a lot of loose ends of build costing / running costs / design and whats realy involved. I think a hell of a lot more research and a lot more experience with FW maybe in order before attempting a SW build like this.
