Sure, I knew it… lately I’ve commented about how I like how my tanks are doing… lost 2 bigger fish, in different tanks…

It has happened before ( not for a long time ) but , it’s weird when big or dominant fish die, and no signs of duress from weaker, smaller fish…

2 nights ago our “hairy fairy” was acting weird, laying in the plants, on his back, like it was taking a nap… it was still breathing, then over night it moved to a corner, mouth to the glass, I was about ready to scoop it out, as I thought it was dead… ( this is weird) because as I was writing this it moved to a different spot, on the front glass ) so it’s not dead yet, but is really inactive ( “Hairy Fairy” is a young adult, blue eyed, lueistic, long fin, bushy nosed, pleco

The other fish, quite dead, coincidentally the same, laying on it’s back in the plants, it was one of my 2 year old male Tin Foils…

Again lots of smaller, weaker fish thriving in both tanks, everything seems to be normal, and looking good in the tanks… I didn’t check the water, as both are getting RO, same as all the other tanks and both tanks have lots of plants, and fully cycled, functional filters…

Lots of more sensitive fish, both in the same tanks, and in tanks using the same water… no signs of foul play..

Before I saw the Tin Foil, I was thinking how inbred, a fish actually is to be a blue eyed, lueistic, and long fin… it may only live a fraction of as long as a “normal” one… we grew both of these fish up from babies, so neither was much over 2 years old…

I lost a fish on Monday. My first loss in over a year and a half. He was a p. pulcher. He was also the biggest fish in the tank. He developed eye proptosis from either combat injury or infection. Water parameters are excellent and all other fish are fine so I suspect injury. I added salt to the water when I first noticed the eye problem but to no avail. I wonder whether my female p. pulcher will miss him. He was not very nice to her.
