Hello all

What supplies do you need to get a betta? Im about to get my first one and I want to make sure it has a good home. I already have natural pea gravel (large grade) to use as a substrate, but besides that, have nothing. Please tell me what you guys use and approximately what each piece costs in US dollars. Thanks for the advice! :)

Well, for mine...
Tank 1-
Tank, water, dechlor, food, sand, heater, silk plants, fake skull

Tank 2-
Tank, water, dechlor, food, sand, filter, plastic plants, flowerpot, rocks

Tank 3 (not set up yet but this is what will be used)-
Tank, water, dechlor, food, gravel, 'cavey' decorations (probably made out of slate)

As for price, I'm not a Yank so i have no idea.

tank (1gallons+)
substarte (snad or gravel)
heater/filter(if ur having them)
dechlorinator
food(bettes arnt keen on flakes)
plants silk or real
and any decorations u might want

umm cant think if much else

My wife used to get jealous cause I used to spend more time with my fish and on TFF then I did with her. Oops. :*)
Anyway, alabaster, when you start keeping bettas, the price will really depend on what size tank you get. You can easily spend anywhere between $30-$80 when setting up a new tank depending on size, how many decorations/plants you get, substrate, filter, heater, etc...

1 gallon aquaview
bottled ice mountain water(not cold /refrigerated)
3 packs of betta rocks(there is a gravel called this)
thermomiter (sticky kind to stick on side)
a greeen soft net
a small cup
a large pack of biogold
a container of dried shrimp(break them up)
thats all my betta home but buddy's

for mine i have him in a 2.5 gallon with some confetti gravel and a glass top and a light for a 1 gallon! he doesnt have a filter... yet!

1 gallon bowl - that I got at Michael's craft store for like $1.87 It looks great!

about 5 hard plastic "rocks" in the bottom

I use store bought drinking water that I buy by the gallon, change the water once a week

Hikari Bio gold baby pellets, 3 in the morning, 2 at night

that's it :)
