Super Helpful Acclimation Info

Yer it's helpful that thanks, I've just been looking for something like this!

Nice Find :good:

I would never put any bag water into my aquarium. In the video they say it's ok. Ya, much of the water is now mixed with the tank water, but I still wouldn't put it in my tank. I use a specimen container to acclimate in. All my fish/inverts have been really small so far. I just use an airline tub tied in a knot. Works well.

Otherwise great video :)

just curious as to why not put the water in? there water's parameters are just as good as yours. not to mention thats the same water the fish has been living in up untill you bought it?

Because the fish have been sitting in that water for at least a day most of the time. Excreting their waste as well as any free floating nasties that may have come with it from the source of the fish. It just gives me the heebeejeebee's so I don't do it.

The only time I'd EVER consider doing that would be w/a clam or sponge. Those cannot be exposed to air so the only option of transition is below water. That will have to have some water mixture from the specimen container and the tank.

soi geuss it would be a good idea to drip from your tank for the acclimation, and go ahead and do a water change while your at it? thats what i did this morning. went ahead and just did a gallon water change, after losing about a half gallon from adding a fish last night.

if you want to do a wc while you're acclimating I guess you can. I'm to paranoid to do that, though :)
