Sun Catfish

Hi, i just bought 2 sun catfish kinda by accident. i like them alot tho

Does anyone else on here keep them, I may have some questions

one of mines about 2.5" the other ones abit under 2", slow growers apparently, reach 18" but more than 10" is rare for aquarium fish.

I thought they were two spot catfish, look at linky, How similar do they look!!

However looking at pics im 100% positive my ones are sun cats.

Ive only got a 3ft which will do for now (by all reports ive got acouple of years befor they even get close to 5" so plenty of time to save up and organise that big oddball tank ive been thinking about.

Yep largest in aquarias is about 14" so id say about 10-12" Look lovey. id say you will need a 6x2x2 for hi when hes older.

Im gonna start saving

They sleep really strange aswell. vertically in the leaves of one of my plants! i love catfish and i love fish with interesting behaviour. id say the sun catfish forfills both those criteria

Still funny that i picked them over the 4 line pictus catfish in the shop because i thought they wouldnt grow as big as the pictus lol

Lol!! what size tank you got him in now? if you got a 6x2x2 you could return 1 sun catfish and get 1 pictus.

Only A 3ft, Getting the 6ft tank is going to take some time and planning.

I had two sun cats for a while,but one died so now I have just the one. Nice fish,although I would suggest you keep an eye on them together as mine fought quite badly.

if your going to get a 6x2x soon, then get a pictus for 1 Sun Catfish.. as someone ese said could cause deep aggresion.
