MY QUESTION IS IS A SUMP FILTER A NECESITY FOR A REEF TANK. AND IF SO HOW DO I INSTALL ONE MY TANK HAS NO OVERFLOW AREA TO UTILIZE PLEASE HELP

Sumps are not essential. They are of course desirable but a reef tank will work quite happily without one.

If you do ont have the tank drilled and wish to use a sump then you can purchase an overflow box from your lfs.

or you can use 25mm piping and rig up a overflow pipe, works on the same principal as overflow boxes with out the noise and without any drilling or cutting, but the only problem is that it doesnt take water from the top layer of your tank ( not a big problem at all especially if you have a hob skimmer)
