Reading through many of the posts on this forum, I have seen people refer to a dead spot in a tank. I was just wondering what exactly a dead spot is/was.
I have also seen quite a few posts referig to a tank with a sump. Can anyone guide me to a site that explains all about it, or give a quick resume here?
Many thanks in advance.
Jim

a dead spot is a place in a tank where there is no or very little flow which could leed up to a build up of detritus.

A sump is a second tank under the main tank. the main tank is normally drilled and water overflows into the tank below. the sump tank below has up and over wiers and partitions which divert the water over a variety of different filter mediaf and then it is returned to the main tank by a large return pump.

Many thanks for the info ste2k3.
Regards
Jim
