Sulphur Nitrate Filter

Has anyone had experience with the setting up of a sulphur nitrate filter, which is the best methd to use, also is the output from the filter 'sulphuric acid' or what. I know it might be a low ph and no oxygen at all but I read on another forum that its a form of sulphuri acid, but any help i much appreciated.

I thought about trying one, but they seem like more of a pain than they are worth. Water changes are easier.
