I'm trying to do a biotype of a stream in Nigeria, I've got a 350 litre tank and have decided on the plants, stones and substrate and I've decided on Kribs to go in it but other than the congo tetra I couldn't find any other african tetras and congos will get a bit big for my tank so I was wondering what other types of tetra I could put in? Any help would be great thanks.

Hi i havent ever kept them before but i would have thought that congo tetras would be fine in a 350L.

yeah they would be fine they just get a bit big for what I was going for otherwise I would have used some becuase they are pretty cool looking fish

Another nice funky Tetra from Africa is Alestes longipinnis. I had a few along with some Yellow-Tail Congo Tetra quite recently and these are definitely one of the more intriguing fish I've kept. They kept me entertained for hours and once settled, show the exact same colour as my Congos. Your problem would be sourcing them....

As everyone has already mentioned the Congo Tetras would be great. The yellow tail Congo tetra if you want to stay on the smaller size as congo's do get large at least for a tetra. The only other tetras i can think of that are from africa would be the short nose clown tetra(gets really big), Red eye tetra, Glowlight tetras, and Nurse tetras,
