Good morning everyone. We have 4 fish in my sons 10 gallon tank : 2 corys, 1 platy and 1 guppy. Any suggestions for adding a few more fish? I don't want to overstock it, but I would like to add 1 or 2 more fish. Keep in mind, we would be purchasing from our local pet store chain (petsmart/petco), as we don't have any aquarium supply stores in our area.

Also, we have approx a 40 gallon tank (give or take, I don't remember the exact number), stocked with:
7 zebra danios
6 neons
2 glow light tetras
3 corys
2 platys
1 molly
3 silver tip tetras
2 guppies

Can we add more, or is it stocked to capacity?

Thanks for your help. :good:

hiya, you could always, take either the platy's or guppies out of your 40 g tank and put them in your 10 gallon.

Depending on your filtration youcould probably build up the numbers of your fish in the 40 gallon too :good:

Personly id stick the cories from the 10 into the 40 (improve the group from 2 small to 1 large) and replace them with 3/4 Oto's :) Then id probably go for maybe a small gourami and/or a few endlers (or similar).

I'd take out all your tank stock, move them into the 40 gallon, and start again quite honestly. The guppy and molly will be happier with mates, and the corys may be happier with the other corys as well, provided they are the same variety (which I'm guessing they are given you got them from Petco). Corydoras shouldn't be kept in groups of smaller than six unless you can't help it.

You really need more glow-lights and silver-tip tetras in your main tank two. Each schooling species needs at least six for proper behavior.

If it were up to me, I'd say move the neons into the 10 gallon, buy a few Otocinclus (I know Petco carries them) and one or two African Dwarf Frogs.
