I've started CO2 for the last 3 weeks and each week I would always have to re-make the 2lt container because the cap would go loose. I guess I over tighten too much. Can anyone suggest a better AIRTIGHT solution?

That's odd, you can try using a threading glue or sealant on it... (local hardware store) ...or you might be able to put a spot of super glue connecting the lid to the bottle... I dunno, just some suggestions...

I had the same problem and found what I think is the perfect solution. There was some doubt about the amount of air space at the top of the bottle but I have had nothing but good, air tight results.

I use a demijohn and a cork with a hole on it. If you can get hold of some they work great.

There shouldn't be enough force in the bottle to unscrew the cap. In fact, the more pressure on it, the harder it should be to unscrew the cap. Did you dry the cap first before you put it on. Any water could act as a lubricant and unscrew the cap with all the pressure. You should try screwing the cap not so hard if you think you overtighten it.

So far it is still going strong at 2 weeks but I have not really got measurements right yet. Ther definatly isn't as much going in as there was.

ingrediants:
1 1/2 teaspoons yeast
4cups of sugar
lots of water
couple of pinches of bicarbonate of soda.

Thats a pretty big mixture. I went with 2 cups of sugar and 1/2 teaspoon of yeast.

Adding more yeast just means that the c02 will not last as long. The yeast will eat up the sugar more quickly, and drain the c02 out of it. With more sugar, the yeast will take longer, however if there is not enough yeast, there will be a lot of sugar left over. The yeast will have already used up as much sugar as it can, and the sugar will stay in the water.
