A couple of hours ago i turned off the tank lights in my main 3ft tank and my f.betta had died and was stuck to one of the filters...
I shall give a little more info;
Basically 6months ago i bought a m.betta and two weeks later i bought 2 f.bettas for my main tank.
They all got along fine in the tank which is 3ft long and at the time had a shallow water style setup with plants coming out of it and with various other fish in it. after anothjer two weeks i bought 2 more females to add to the group; at the time i didn't know bettas good be nasty and terotorial to each other so i suppose i was quite lucky they all got along.
After about 2months of having them somone adivised to reduce the number of females to 1 so i did. I bought a new 50gal and separated the male betta from the female and put him in the new tank once it had cycled.
His condition deteriorated Slowly over the month he was in the 50gal but i never found any reason why he did; water quality was always good, none of the other fish were ill and he didn't show any realy symptoms other than spending more and more time on his own nothing nothing much.
Eventualy he died one day and for the last couple of months my female betta seems to be going more down the same route as him. I think she has eggs in her so i have been trying to find a new m.betta for her to breed her but today she died out of the blue.
The only thing i could say that was wrong with her is that she seemed to be spending more and more time on her own, could she have been depressed?

Any info you guys can give me on what could have hapened is much appreciated; im realy shocked on whats happened...

First, just because your female has eggs..that doesn't mean you should breed her.

Second, a 50gallon is a little large for a male betta...he was probably stressed, being stressed can cause illness..which of course can lead to death.

Third, one of the other females was probably bullying her..thats why she stayed off to herself....they could have just eventually stressed her out enough she was weak and got caught on the filter, couldn't get away and she drowned (they need surface air to live), and then you found her dead.

Fourth, she could have just been old, if you got them from a pet store...she could have already been a year or so old.

No by this point she was the only f.betta i had left because by this time i had rehomed all the other ones.
This morning when i got up i had lost a panda and a peppered cory...I've done a 50% water change and treated the tank with some internal anti bacterial medication because i remember having a similar thing happen a couple of months back and all i can realy describe the deaths as is sudden...The fish all apear healthy and water stats are good...i don't realy know what else to do...
