What does it look like when he goes to the toilet,is his bottom inflamed and red, also does his belly look sunken in.

Also has he lost a lot of weight, and has his coloured darkened or faded.

You do need to provide more details. Also tell us the water parameters and tank size.

If this is a 'sucking loach' as in chinese algae eater and if they are quite large, the problem may be that its tank-mate is out-competing or bullying it as they become quite aggressive towards each other as they mature. You wont necessarily be seeing this aggression so don't think that because you haven't seen it it isn't there. If they are getting close to 4", it's probably time to move one out.

DON'T put it in a breeder net. This is much too stressful and will only cause more problems.

looking at him/her there is no loss of colour, still quite bright. theres no discolouration at all that i can see or imflamation, his poop i cant coment on as of yet as he/she in hiding most of the time. there may be a bit of, hes not the smallest and hes not the bigist in the tank.

with regards to the tank, water is quite good from what i have been told and read and is as fllows:
PH= 7.2
KH= 6 o/d
GH= >16 o/d
NO2= 0 mg/L
NO3= 0 mg/L

its a 27 gallon tank, theres a little algue problem but was due to over feeding as have tryed to cut down but still give enough to all, i put a little in the loach in questions main hidding place and seems to go...

hope this helps, can post a pic if would help and if i can get 1..

thank you to all
