Today I bought a sucking loach as an impulse buy, they are only suppose to get about 3-4", but what are the real names for these loaches? I'm dying to look at the fish index for them.

Will he be ok in a planted tank, or will he destroy the plants? I have angel fish in with him at the minute, but he's fairly small and if he tried to suck on them I think he'd get a beat in. If I knew it was a CAE, I wouldn't of bought it. I said to my brother "They get big them" after he said something about it being Chinese, then he said, they only get to 3", so I bought it.

hi
we also made the mistake of getting a cae when we started out, it was fine till it got to about 2inches in size ( a few months) then it started seriously terrorizing our corys morning noon & night! we had to rehome it (nightmare to catch)
personally id try & get it back to the lfs asap, they might not be happy to take it back in a few months and i really wouldnt risk it, although i have read posts from a few people who have caes in their community tanks & have not had problems so im sure individual fish can have slightly different personalities.
good luck whatever you decide.

Is it primarily cories and other bottom dwellers that they terrorise or just anyone?

as far as i know they can terrorise other fish & have a nastly habit of sucking on the slime coat or eyes of other fish ( although we didnt leave our cae in our tank long enough to witness any of this)

they would probably be ok in a tank with more aggressive fish though. but they did give our peaceful little corys HELL! :/
