So, I went to Petsmart last night just to "look around". LOL, ended up coming home with another white/pastel boy. I think he is a crowntail... (am trying deperately to get a decent photo, how do you guys make the pictures so clear and nice?) Put him in a 2.5G minibow with a rock/cave thing to hide under and a nice live plant but I am not sure he is happy. He has been constantly flaring since he came home and sorta "attacks" the glass at you constantly too. Do you guys think he will adjust and settle down eventually? He appears healthy. He has eaten some biogold pellets. LOL, he attacks them too voraciously. He is in no way near like my other betta who actually swims over looking for attention when he sees you.

He definitely should calm down once he gets used to his home. Some react to the change by pouting, sulking, not eating, etc. Others turn into little wild boys, who flare and attack everything.

Also, check to make sure there's nowhere he can see his own reflection, because that could also explain his flaring. :)

Do you have a background on your tank?
Even if not, my boy Jack in a 2.5 minibow is the same way - if the light is on, he's flaring. At all sides of the tank. Unless the room is equally as bright as his tank, I'm afraid he'll probably always be a flaring fool because it causes reflections inside the tank.

From watching him it looks as though this might be the problem. He is sooo silly. I guess I'll try and buy a piece of background asap at least for the back of the tank. Thanks to you both for the suggestions.

His name is "Paint" because there are several colored areas on him that look like someone look a tiny paintbrush and painted them on. He is VERY cute. He has calmed down quite a bit now. Sorry the pics are a blurry, I can't seem to get them focused. :/

for shame! A scond betta! . He is a very pretty fish.
