I have about 8 clutches of Giant Apple Snail clutches at the top of my Juwel Rio 180.
Now there is no protection from the heat of the light at the top where they have laid them. Only the ones behind the light fitting seem to be moist. Whenever I'm in I wet them. I have started leaving the light off every other day now.
The first 3 I found haven't hatched and the first was laid about 3wks ago now.
How long should they take to hatch?
Should I think about moving them to one of my other tanks with less intense heat and creating a light sheltered area that is still able to gather moisture from the air.
I would love for at least one of these ginormous egg sacks to hatch, but am having little luck at the moment.
Can you offer any advice or tips at all please?
Many thanks,
Gazo

You could always set up a hatching container.

I use a small ziploc/rubbermaid container.. let it float in the tank, put a few holes in the lid.. add a bit of water to it.. put some styrafoam in the container (or something that floats).. put the clutch on top of the styrafoam.. That should keep it humid enough for the eggs to hatch.

As for the 3 weeks.. it could take up to a month.. after a month though I'd definitely say they're no good. I've had clutches hatch within 2 weeks.
