I have a 10g planted aquarium, which I am very proud of. However, I want a true JUNGLE in there! I am considering switching from pebble substrate to sand. Will this help my plants, hurt them, do nothing? If it helps, is there anything in particular I should look for or do regarding sand? Is there anything I can mix in?

Thanks!

What size are the pebbles in your current setup? I'd be more inclined to stick with a pebble or gravel like substrate before using sand in a planted tank. I use flourite in both my tanks. Before I had the flourite I used your basic cheap decorative aquarium gravel. It worked, but I much prefer the flourite. I don't have experience with sand. I believe many others here use sand as one of two or three layers of different substrate. As well, if you do a search (titles only, from any date) in this forum with "sand" as your only search word, you will find about a dozen threads on the same issue.
