Another beginner question...
I have some unused gravel that I orginally bought for my freshwater tank. Is that okay to use in a saltwater (FO) set-up? Or would you highly recommend I use something else (i.e. crushed coral or argonite)?
Thanks again in advance for the advice!

Whilst i dont think Gravel will do any harm to the tank I would strongly advise against it. There is no buffering capacity in gravel or the surface area for bacteria growth.

I use Aragonite sand, this has excellant buffering abilities, if you use gravel then how will you buffer the water? Lots of marine animals live in the sand and gravel wil not help them in here at all (though i guess its a good size for pods) ALl the burrowing creatures that help to give life to the reef would not live in gravel so your bacteria capacity would be far less.

I won't use the gravel-- thanks for the info!
