Every time I mention that I am going to use meds on one of my bettas, everyone always tells me to make sure to use aeration while medicating.

Um, since they breathe from the top of the air, they don't need extra aeration, right?

So why aeration for bettas then?
Just for surface agitation?

Or to seriously and completely tork Harvey off.
He DESPISES bubbles of any kind in his tank and he lets me know about it. He marches around the tank flared to the hilt and doesn't stop or back off unless I take the bubblemaker out.

He's a psycho.

Hey BM, I just read on Live Aquaria that using an air pump in the tank also brings toxins up from the bottom to the surface to dissipate....suppose that might be why they reccommend using them while medicating....

I do LOVE that website.....

Wow, that's an interesting tidbit!!
Now I know!
Even though I can't do anything about it or Harvey will freak out!
He's a psychotic fish suddenly.

I never use aeration when medicating bettas since, in my experience, is just does more harm than good. We all know how stressed they can get by moving water...

Yeah - Harvey goes completely bananas.
I think he's hyperactive.
He's a totally different fish when I have the bubble bar in it.

I figure hey...
if he wants stagnant water, who am I to argue about it? :dunno:
