and a hard place. Or you might say a bookshelf and a door. As some of you know, I am settting up 4 more 10 gal tanks for my betta's (getting them out of there little 1 gal kritter keepers). Well, my dad anchored the shelf to the doorframe, so I can't move it. While he was installing it I didn't realize how close we were to the door on the other side, and now I can't fit a HOB filter in there. About an inch too short. (And no the door can not be removed.) So, now I need some advice on what type of filter I can use in these tanks. At a lfs they have a Fluval Filter 1 Plus Underwater Filter. Are these any good? They are on sale right now, so if they are I don't want to miss out. It really can't be anything too big as there isn't a lot of space in the section. Any help you can give me will be appreciated. Thanks.

Depending on how big the sections are you will probably have to go with air driven box filters. I don't have experience with the fluval underwater filter but I think it might be expensive. Would you have to have multiple filters for the tank or is there water flow between the sections? Buying multiple filters would be less expensive if they were the box filters that hook up to an air pump. They don't work as well as HOB but if they are done correctly can properly filter a ten gallon. I would suggest at least two or three box filters though.

i have fluval filter.

when i had my small tank up and running, i used a fluval 1. it was very good, i liked it. nowadays it's a bit noisy, but it is at least 7 years old, so we'll let it off the hook!!!!! ;)

I have only heard good things about the fluval plus 1....I would give it a go!

I have a couple of Fluval + 2's in my 8 gallon tanks and they have to be set at their lowest setting (apart from 1). I've had them for a couple of month now and had no problems with them. THe +1 should be fine.

Go for it!

That's great...thanks guys for your input. (I didn't think anyone had seen this post)

There is water movement from section to section as the dividers have holes in them.
