Hi, catfish lovers, I have a Striped Singing Catfish (Platydoras costatus ) and I now Know that these are mainly Nocturnal fish, although my LFS did not tell me that at the time of purchasing one, it's a great fish although it spends most of it's time hiding away, although in the last couple of day's I have noticed him under the very large piece of bog wood that's in the tank, it's just a pitty that you don't see them during daylight hours, he was about 2.5 " when I got him and now he's more like 3.5 - 4 " so I know he's growing, just wish i could see more of him !!

Ive found that my south american bumblebee cats who I keep a group of 4, in a 24" species tank are allways willing to come out in the day, if theres food available. These too are supposed to be highly nocturnal. If your tank big enough then you could try a group of them, or if you have a small tank that you could temporaily set-up for him/her as a species tank and see how it goes. Then, if he/she does come out more than you could get a decent sized tank for a group and see them more often.

Its probably going to be a rarity when you see this guy. My woodcats and plecos rarely come out during the day even for food.

try feeding them some algae wafers at the exact time each night, after a week or so i found my two spotted raphaels and 1 striped raphael would quickly appear each night as soon as the food was given.
