Well, I decided to start by getting rid of everything in my tank. I have one striped peacock eel right now and he's all alone, I was thinking of putting one or two more. I have seen people have them together, and I see they get along fine at pet stores (yes, i know that's only temp.) but I called petsmart and they said DO NOT, I have a 55 gallon with lots of hiding places, and it's pretty much going to be two or three eels and a couple of amazon puffers. Do you think I can put a couple together?

This is Macrognathus siamensis or something else in the genus Macrognathus, and they are, on the whole, quite sociable. Assuming you have soft silica sand (e.g., pool filter sand) as a substrate and not gravel, sure, go ahead and buy another one. If you have gravel, this specimen will probably be dead soon, so buying another is fairly pointless. I cannot stress this point too strongly.

Cheers, Neale

You got it!!! I hate the way gravel looks so I've always used sand anyways :} but for right now I am just planning to have the two of them, and eventually I will add a black ghost, and in a couple months I will add three amazon puffers and that will probably be it for my 55. I'm still getting over the loss of my puffers from a few weeks ago :[ but thank you!!
