just put a new powerglo light in my tank to go with my aquaglo and its really made the fish look a lot better but i now have what i think is string algae growing off my plants , what can i do to get rid of it.
Assuming you have the kind that forms really long branched threads, the best way to get rid of it is to twirl it around a small brush, like an old toothbrush. That will get all of it, and you'll feel a little pop when it detaches from whatever it was stuck to.
This stuff is proving to be a real problem in my 28 gallon. I regularly have to pick the stuff off the plants (usually with my fingers). I have no idea what can stop it!
