Strange white mucous on swordtail

Hello, there is this strange white mucous and it seems that skin or mucous is peeling off?
details: the 3rd and 4nd day before this I did a 50 percent water change because i just released my quarantined fish in the main tank.

This fish is here for a long time already, so I'm confused why it suddenly has this.

Which parts of the fish are we meant to be looking at, the 2 white marks on the head, or somewhere else?

The 2 marks on the head look like excess mucous, which can be caused by an injury, external protozoan parasites like Costia, Chilodonella, Trichodina, or poor water quality.

Poor water quality is unlikely to be the cause because the marks are only on the head and not all over the body and fins.

External protozoan parasites cause patches of excess mucous over part or parts of the body. The fish doesn't seem to be rubbing on anything and was quarantined so shouldn't have any but might. Salt can be used to treat it (2 heaped tablespoons of salt per 20 litres (5 gallons) of water. Keep salt in tank for 2 weeks.

The fish might have injured its head and has excess mucous over the wound to protect it.

First thing I saw was how beautiful and healthy your fish look (and the clarity of the water and camera). If the water is good I’d lean towards a scrape.

I think the fish mightve scraped itself, because of many reasons
1. the fish was eating this giant piece of grass that it pulled yesterday. The giant vallisneria was already rotten and was probably itchy or something for the fish.
2. no other fish have it, and because of the recent waterchanges, the water quality is very good

i only added more xiphophorus... some sanke koi swordtails and some mutt high fin platies. 2 of each : )

I quarantined the fish, and changed 20% of the quarantine tank water. most spots have gone away today, will do 40%s until it recovers

Thanks for the advice! Shes looking much better. Just did a 50%(i guess more) water change so theres air bubbles everywhere but looking a lot better.

That mustve been a bad scrape, looks like lots of coloring fell off on the head

I will continue to do 50s every day until she has no more fuzzy mucous
