Strange Scars

Last month, my sister’s betta just suddenly had these small yet thick scars on each side of its face just between the eyes and the gills… Its not like, SCARS all over the place.. they’re two perfectly aligned pinkish scars on each sides of its face… We didn’t know what it was at the time and we thought it wasn’t in any pain cuz it was acting fine.. And I don’t think anything in its tank could have caused them either…

Today I look in Chase’s tank and I noticed the SAME SCARS! Two on each side!! Is this normal or something??? Btw, i notice it on some bettas that other people own but i just wanna know what it is...

its probably nothing serious, but i would treat with melafix or atleast salt, just incase

Every betta has that. I bet the betta is a whitish color, which reveals it. Look on all of your bettas, they all have it.

I think it's part of the gills... you see it when they flare.

yeah i agree, it stands out more on cambodians and whites.

I think they might be glands.

My betta has a scar right across his mouth. He's had it since i got him! Makes him look even more aggressive! He's kind of evil though so he probably deserved whatever caused it! lol
