yesterday i noticed some while fungus on some wood in my cory tank (50L, hold four glowlights and 5 albino corys) im thinking it might have been sparked by a load of assassin eggs that could have gone off? anyway one of my baby corys has a coating of it! it is one of three new babies from the store so it is possible it came like that. because of their colour its so hard to see at first. i dosed the tank with interpet anti fungal and removed the wood. i also took ut the plant with the eggs on and bleached it. my question is, is there any quick dip i can give this little one to give him a helping hand? he is literally covered in fuzz and im not sure how hes going to do...

Any other species and I'd suggest a salt bath, but cories tolerate salt very badly, so I don't think that's really an option.

All you can do is hope the anti-fungal does its job :( Hope he pulls through.

yeah exactly... thought there may be some cory specific alternative... fingers crossed this is enough. my serpae once brought some fungus in on his nose and he got through it with this interpet stuff so maybe hey

I doubt the wood had anything to do with that. When you put drift wood in a tank, it's normal for it to develop a sort of whitish, fur or slime coating on it. It's not harmful to the fish, in fact, some of them will eat it. There is likely a problem with your water or substrate. Do daily water changes of 25% for the next week, cut back on feeding and after the week, cut back on the water changes to 50% weekly. Make sure you are also doing a good gravel vac. Try to keep the substrate and water very clean. I don't know if it's enough to save the cory but at least you can prevent it happening in the future.

Best of luck!

+1 :good:

i do daily water changes, the water tests are all good... substrate is super clean, all other fish healthy and happy. that particular cory was one of three new ones, could have been on him already? the wood was from one of my existing tanks. i dont over feed (i learnt that lesson... :/ ) i do tho have a problem with a very high ph - 8.2 which im wondering is because of using paving sand? hence the daily water changes. could the ph be harming him? do you think this weekend i should replace all that sand?

Stress from transport could be the issue and he may have been sick already. If you are having to do daily water changes because your substrate is altering your pH, I personally would get rid of it. Who needs the hassle? After all, it's already enough to worry about all the other things that can go wrong, why add the worry of having to do daily water changes. There will come a time when you will miss a day or more and then you'll really be in trouble.

ah i thought over time it would lower... i was told that... i think this weekend it can all come out, aquarium sand in and redose the fungal meds. im also going to set up a quarantine/hospital tank i think

and you know, without running this by me, my other half brought these three corys home on the back of his motorbike! i mean really, he doesnt get it :( so yeah, you could well be right
