Was at my LFS today to stock my new Fluval tank (30") and saw really interesting fish (imo) one was a giant danio, which i got gived, (3" easily) and the other i didn't take, it is about 3" long, extremley active, definatley a characin and has sort of a humped back appearence, silver in colour, didn't notice much else, but if its still their when i go back wednesday its getting bought home and i'll set up my cube (40Gallon)for it.

Any ideas?

Maybe a Rainbow of some kind? Try looking throug the photos on 'tropical fish finder' and see if anything matches. Sorry I can't be of more help but there's not a lot to go on...

Nah it wasn't a rainbow, was predatory, hunting around the tank, picking at the glowlight tetras etc...

Surely if it ws predatory it wouldn't be in with small Tetra? Was it actually trying to predate on them or just being nippy?

Brycon Melanopterus??

It looks like someone has brang it into the shop and gave it in, no price, no ID, etc...
Was definatley trying to predate them, chasing them round in circles non stop trying to bite them.

Its nothing like Chalceus erythrurus,

Brycon Melanopterus??
getting closer, but it wasn't as silver as that, but still silver. its back was raised from just behind the eyes

Now there's a sensible suggestion, why didn't I think of that!?

Was it Parambassis pulcinella/Humphead Glassfish?

The predatory manner certainly fits, which I was oblivious to for months with my group, only to guttingly lose four Pearl Danio (including fry I had raised from April) with I introduced them to the 540l a couple of months back :(

(Then one of the surviving five jumped out of the 620T somehow, so I bought six new ones to up their numbers, now one of the ten called "Mr Stumpy" is hopefully regrowing his tail fin in the 620T while the others went to the 240l)
